Mount Baruntse (7,129m) Expedition Spring

Mount Baruntse (7129m) is situated in between the lap of Mount Everest and Mount Makalu. It was first conquered by Colin Todd and Geoff Harrow on 30 May 1954 via South -East Ridge despite of its difficult straightforward route. Since then, many climbers have followed the same route and successfully reached the top. This mountain is also gaining popularity among mountaineers like the other Pumori, Ama Dablam, and the Mount Everest.

One should face hard sections of 50 Degree's elevation with a prominent ice cliff to be climbed with the risk of avalanche from the South-East ridge. Although spring is the best season for this expedition, some climbers have reached on its top even in summer. In the itinerary of our Monterosa Treks and Expedition, the expedition starts from Kathmandu - Lukla flight; and approximately 11 days trekking on foot to Baruntse Base camp following the same route to return back to Kathmandu. The Base camp of Baruntse (5200m) is close in distance to Panch Pokhari. Mount Baruntse can also be ascended via Arun valley to Makalu Base camp.
